Neither a borrower nor a lender be
For loan oft loses itself and friend
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry
With this in mind then
If you still want to borrow
I’ll expect the book back by tomorrow.

Hmmm. My friends have returned the books they borrowed from me. I haven’t returned the books I borrowed from them. We haven’t spoken in months . . .
