Top 10 Books I read in 2017

I read 34 books in 2017. Short of my goal of 50. This year I set my goal at 48 and will up my game.

Of the 34 books I read here are my top 10 favorites:

  3. A Farewell to Arms, by Ernest Hemingway
  4. Across the River and into the Trees, by Ernest Hemingway
  5. Memoirs of a Dutiful Daughter, by Simone de Beauvoir
  6. Old Path White Clouds, by Thich Nhat Hanh
  7. Sabbath’s Theater, by Philip Roth
  8. The Sound and the Fury, by William Faulkner
  9. Shakespeare The Inventor of the Human, by Harold Bloom
  10. So you Don’t Get Lost in the Neighborhood, by Patrick Modiano

The God of Small Things is by far my favorite book of the year.

  1. Wow! That’s a great list you’ve got there. Kudos. I haven’t read a book this year and last year, I didn’t even read much. Not good for a blogger I guess. But it’s part of my goals for 2018. I’d see how many I’m able to read before the year ends. 🙂

  3. I’ve been meaning to finally read Arundhati Roy after hearing her on the Desert Island Discs podcast last year. I have The God of Small Things waiting on the shelf, so I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it so much.

    My favourite of last year was probably The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson.

  6. Thanks for your list of books! I reading currently „Canada“ by Richard Ford. It’s an amazing book – and it’s read well. Crucial to the book is Ford’s narrator, who changes dramatically as the plot evolves. In this sense, it’s a coming of age novel. But it’s far more than that.

  9. I don’t have such an accomplishment of reading or a long list of goals other than to read and enjoy everyword as if a bowl of gourment ice cream. I am a big p.g. Wodehouse fan, I discover a series of murder mysteries by accident while strolling through the local library last winter. there are seven books by gary corby set in accient Greece mixing real and imaginary characters well. right now I am engulf in past history the book is: the nighmare years 1930-1940 about nazi germany’s rise to power. my next read will be something light hearted.
